Tournament Details

The Invitation Tournament comprises Rugby Netball and Cricket competitions in sections as shown below.


Tournament Dates

Friday 4th & Saturday 5th December 2020. Please Note: Teams are required to be available on the days their section plays as shown below.


Venue

The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Tournament is held at The Sevens Stadium, Al Ain Rd, Dubai, UAE. For directions go to www.thesevensstadium.com

Tournament Rules

A copy of the Tournament Rules is available on the official tournament website www.dubairugby7s.com and will accompany formal invitation.


Selection Criteria

Invitations will be offered on a ‘first come…’ basis, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the section of the Tournament in which they wish to compete.


Tournament Entry Fee

One Tournament Fee is required per team competing. Clubs entering multiple teams must pay a Tournament Fee for each team competing. Payment will be due on invitation acceptance. A team’s place in the Tournament will not be confirmed until payment is made thus places are issued on a ‘first paid…’ basis. All fees shown are VAT inclusive.


Water

Complimentary water is available pitch/court-side and in changing areas for participating teams throughout the Tournament.


Medical Services

The Tournament provides on-pitch/court medical services for players injured whilst participating in the Tournament. For those requiring further medical support on-site ambulances will transport injured players to hospital.
The Tournament provides a Strapping, Massage and Physio service which participants can use for a small fee per visit.


Flights, Visas, Accommodation, Excursions, Training Pitches & Ground Transport:

Teams traveling to the Tournament from overseas are responsible for arranging all logistic and travel for their trip.

Eligibility Criteria - Rugby

In order to participate in the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Tournament team players must be eligible to play in their chosen section as follows (please see specific Tournament Rules for full details):

  • Gulf U13 Boys

    • Teams in this section must comprise males from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • Players must be under 13yrs on 31st December 2019 i.e. born on or after 1st January 2007. Please see Tournament Rules for full age-related eligibility criteria.
    • Note this section is not exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total
  • Gulf Men's League

    • Teams must be representative of a Club that is affiliated to UAERF and participates in UAERF or ARFU sanctioned competitions.
    • All players must be representative of the above referenced Club that is entered in the tournament, is affiliated to UAERF and participates in UAERF or ARFU sanctioned competitions.
    • The team name must be identical to the name under which the Club plays in those competitions.
    • Players must be Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.  
    • This section is exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Team entry is by select invitation only.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total.
  • Gulf Men's Open

    • Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • Preference will be given to Middle East/Gulf sports clubs playing under their club name.
    • Teams to comprise players from any sport/leisure activity who wish to play competitive rugby.
    • Note this section is not exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total.
  • Gulf Men's Social

    • Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • This competition is intended for social teams or social players from any sport or leisure activity.
    • To enter into the spirit of this tournament section players who have participated in UAERF or ARFU Premiership, West Asia Championship, Division 1 or equivalent standard league matches are not eligible to play in this section and team managers will be required to certify that team members comply with ‘social’ status as specified.
    • Players from the UAERF Division 2 League are eligible for this section.
    • The Tournament Management reserves the right to refuse or cancel entry to this section for teams or players it feels do not fit the specified criteria.  
    • Note this section is not exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total.
  • Gulf Vets

    • Teams in this section may comprise men from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • Players must be 35yrs or older on 26th November 2020.
    • Note this section is not exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 15 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 17 passes in total.
  • Gulf Under 19 Boys

    • Teams in this section must comprise males from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • Players must be under 19yrs on 31st December 2019 i.e. born on or after 1st January 2001. Please see Tournament Rules for full age-related eligibility criteria.
    • Note this section is not exclusive to rugby teams or players.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total
  • Gulf Under 19 Girls

    • Teams in this section must comprise females from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.
    • Players must be under 19yrs on 31st December 2019 i.e. born on or after 1st January 2001. Please see Tournament Rules for full age-related eligibility criteria.

  • Gulf Women

    • Teams in this section must comprise women from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.

    • Accreditation: Teams receive - 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total.
  • UAE Nationals Development

    • By invitation only.
    • Accreditation: Teams receive – 12 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 14 passes in total.
  • Gulf U17 Boys

    • Teams in this section must comprise males from any sport or leisure activity who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.   
    • Players must be under 17yrs on 31st December 2019 i.e. born on or after 1st January 2003. Please see Tournament Rules for full age-related eligibility criteria.

netball

Netball Gulf Open

Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.

Teams in this section must comprise adult women (16yrs or older).

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.  

Netball Gulf Social

Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.

Teams in this section must comprise adult women (16yrs or older).

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.

Netball Gulf Youth

 Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East resident and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.

Teams in this section must comprise young women who are between the ages of 11yrs and 15yrs and are born on or after 1st January 2005 and on or before 4th December 2009. Please see section 4. Understanding the laws of the Game for full age-related eligibility criteria.

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.


Cricket

Cricket Gulf Open    

Teams participating in this section of the tournament must comprise individuals who are Gulf/Middle East residents and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.  

Preference will be given to Middle East/Gulf sports clubs playing under their club name.  

Teams to comprise players from any sport/leisure activity who wish to play competitive cricket.   

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.    

Cricket Gulf Vets 

Teams in this section may comprise men who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid residents visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.  

Players must be 35yrs or older on 4th December 2020.   

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.   

Cricket Gulf Youth 

Teams in this section must comprise young men who are between the ages of 14yrs and 17yrs and are born on or after 1st January 2003 and on or before 4th December 2006. Please see section 4. Understanding the laws of the Game for full age-related eligibility criteria. 

Teams in this section may comprise those who reside in the Gulf/Middle East region and hold a valid resident’s visa for the Gulf/Middle East country in which they reside.  

Accreditation: Teams receive - 10 Player & 2 Personnel passes i.e. 12 passes in total.

All players must be accredited and issued with a Player Pass to participate in this event. Player Passes allow access to the main stadium and specific restricted areas for the duration of the tournament.
